Hi! I’m Anu Välitalo, a graphic artist and an illustrator based in Southern Finland. I love visualising ideas, practices, and bringing out many points of view in one picture. I make illustrations both for adults and children.
In my (non-commission) art I express things surreal, uncanny and melancholic alongside with the beautiful and the spellbinding. This qualities seem to enhance each other. A lot of my ideas come from nature. I work with texture and I am intensely interested in the basic elements of drawing such as the line and the colour. I also teach art and design courses in Finnish universities.
In my spare time I play the clarinet, make woodwork and go to the gym, skiing, running or dancing. After a long day, I might relax with drawing some more. I love reading, writing and spoken poetry.
